  • A very local omi beef restaurant, yet tourist-friendly. They closes at 6:30pm, we walked in at 6pm without reservation on a weekday and got immediately seated. The beef are authentic, delicious and reasonably priced. You can choose different cooking styles (tenppanyaki, sukiyaki, shabu shabu) by ordering a small set per person. If your looking for a big feast (in same cooking style for all person) , you can choose the set course which has more portions of the beef (180g) and desserts and sushi. I picked the smaller set (110g) was just right after topping up with beef sushi of 3 different kinds (2 kinds beef + beef tongue). So good and would recommend anyone who wanted to try Omi beef but worried having yakiniku at other local restaurants would be too overwhelming/ pricey/ oily for the elderly. They also sell butler beefs directly at the store. Good source i think! Menus attached, english and Japanese menu, staff are friendly and attentive. They offer assistance at a buttons away. 8 tables on floor one and i believe there are more upstairs. The bill was ~17,000yen for 3.

  • Came for lunch, and there was no queue. Place is more spacious than I thought, with plenty of seats upstairs. English menu is available and they offer set lunch which is slightly more expensive because the meat is of better quality and you get around 10 grams more meat. I got the Omi beef lunch sukiyaki which was good, and the price was reasonable. However, the spicy grilled Omi beef was really dry, hard to chew and tasteless. The servers were courteous, however the cashier seemed cold and distant.

  • This is a butchers shop and a restaurant combined, they sell all types of beef. The food we had was delicious particularly the berg which wax tender and lean and not chewy at all. The waiter was great very helpful and the food arrived promptly. You can order extra veg if you want or extra meet, t hi s v is on top of the set menu amounts. This was virtually thee Ed only restaurant open the night we stayed in this town.

  • Great spot to try Omi beef if you’re visiting the area! We came for dinner and ordered their Omi beef Sukiyaki and Shabu Shabu sets. The beef was so tender and the sukiyaki broth made the beef really flavourful! We also ordered a cold sake to share. Everything came up to about 8,000 yen which I find very affordable for the quality of food we got.

  • The Omi beef is incredibly delicious. We came for lunch and came back for dinner on the same day. Normal beef set is 3750 yen including tax. You’ll have 100g of beef sliced to an appropriate thickness. Premium beef set is 7700 yen including tax. You’ll have 150g of beef and a piece is twice as thick as in the normal set. We came on Monday around 12:00 PM and were one of the first customers there. The restaurant was quickly filled then so we recommend that you make a reservation in advance. Service was fast and staff friendly. Try this restaurant if you visit Omihachiman. It’s so worth it.

  • The restaurant offers the famous Omi beef, and it was incredibly delicious. We ordered a three-part set: teppanyaki, sukiyaki (with two different flavors). The beef was very tender and tasty. The restaurant also offers free parking.”

  • Everyone talks about Kobe beef but Oumi Wagyu is also very good! This place is one of the best! They operate a butcher shop restaurant and the staff is beyond welcoming. They took their time to explain the menu and their set meals are such a great deal. They have varying quality of beef to choose from, all at different price points. Even at the highest quality, it's still decently affordable. I had their lowest set (around $36) and it was still melt in your mouth quality. They accept credit card but not ones made of metal so be sure to have a plastic one on hand. Definitely worth trying if you are every on the area.

  • Waited 30-40 mins but it was so worthy. It is one of the best cuisine I’ve ever tasted. The taste of おうみうし is heaven you can order lunch set I think it is most valuable and affordable- set for sukiyaki, shabu shabu, and Teppanyaki. A little background information - the restaurant originally was only a butcher shop (since 昭和39年, so around 1964?)but later they decided to also promote the beauty of Omi beef. I have seen many Japanese people here so no doubt it is a special place. Must come !!!
